HEALTH PROFESSIONS ADVISOR INFORMATION

Overview

Pre-Med AMSA is working closely with the USF Division of Health Professions Advising. This office has information and resources for the following health professional fields: Medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physical therapy, veterinary medicine, optometry, occupational therapy, podiatry, and chiropractic medicine. They will teach you how to understand the comprehensive requirements of a competitive application and how to navigate the application process. This office is knowledgeable in both the academic and non-academic factors of an application. The USF Division of Health Professions Advising has 1 full time advisor to aide students in all majors with course selection, career advisement, pre-health requirements, recommendations and more: Mr. Anthony Iannelli Jr. Mr. Iannelli Jr. serves as our organization advisor.

 

 

 

 

 

Health Professions Certified Advisors

In addition to Mr. Iannelli Jr., select academic advisors are officially recognized by the USF Division of Health Professions Advising as Health Professions Certified and can provide pre-health advisement to students in their major/designated areas. These advisors are:

  • Jessica Hoffmann- Biology Majors

  • Mike Stowe- English Majors

  • Gina DiMauro- Health Sciences Majors

  • Dana Barnes- Health Sciences Majors

  • Carter Harbert- Honors Students

If you are not declared in one of the majors above with a Certified Advisor and have attended at least one group advising session, please email healthprofadvise@usf.edu for information about setting up an appointment.


Judy Genshaft Honors College Pre-Health Advisors

Within the Honors College there are 4 academic advisors that help pre-health students within their college. If you are an Honors Student, you will be able to also meet with one of the Pre-Health Honors Advisors.

Organization Advisor - Anthony Iannelli, M.Ed.

Anthony Iannelli Jr. is from Melbourne, FL and is an alumnus of the University of South Florida (USF). Anthony completed his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with a minor in General Business Administration at USF. In addition, Anthony earned his Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in College Student Affairs at USF. He has worked across the USF campus in areas including Student Government (SG), New Student Connections (NSC), the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement (CLCE), the Center for Student Involvement (CSI), Undergraduate Studies (UGS) and the USF Chemistry Department. Currently, Anthony is a pre-health advisor and adjunct instructor at USF. He teaches SLS 2901- Academic Foundations Seminar, IDS 4930- Developing a Health Professions Portfolio and IDS 2378- Interdisciplinary Knowledge and Inquiry. In addition, Anthony is the Coordinator of the Rising Health Professionals Living Learning Community (RHPLLC) with USF Housing and Residential Education in Beacon Hall. Outside of work, Anthony likes to spend time with his family and friends, travel, workout and watch and play sports. His favorite teams are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Rays, USF Bulls, Orlando Magic and Tampa Bay Lightning.
